About Face is an integrative skincare studio focused on making skincare feel simple, approachable and personalized. They meet every client where they are on their skincare journey, creating customized treatments that support healthy, radiant skin. Along with customized facials, About Face offers brow and lash services, facial waxing, microneedling and peels as well as Reiki in a welcoming, relaxing environment.
Hillcrest spoke with owner/esthetician/reiki master Aliza Thompson about why The Watkins Building works for her business.
Why did you choose The Watkins Building?
We chose The Watkins Building because of its convenient location, easy freeway access and ample parking, making it an easy destination for both existing and new clients. As our first standalone studio, it also gave us the opportunity to customize a space that truly reflected our business and the experience we wanted to create.
The private entrance, security features and controlled building access were especially important since we see clients during evenings and weekends. Those features give both us and our clients added peace of mind.
What do you enjoy most about being part of The Watkins Building community?
The Watkins Building is clean, beautiful and welcoming. It has a professional feel while still being comfortable and inviting, and we appreciate the added sense of safety throughout the building. It's been a great place to grow our business.
What is your favorite neighborhood amenity?
One of our favorite things about the location is how easy it is to get to. Clients appreciate the convenient freeway access and parking, making appointments simple whether they're coming from nearby or across the Twin Cities.
What is your favorite part of your space at Watkins?
We love the natural light and the overall aesthetic of the studio. Moving into Watkins gave us the opportunity to create our own dedicated space for the first time, and we customized every detail to fit the way we care for our clients.
The studio features two treatment rooms, custom plumbing in each room, laundry, specialty lighting, and a layout that creates a calm, luxurious experience while allowing us to work efficiently throughout the day.
Was there anything unique about your space that Watkins helped accommodate?
Because this was our first independent location after operating within a larger salon, it was important to create a space that felt completely our own. We worked closely through the build-out process to customize the studio, from installing specialty lighting to designing treatment rooms that support the services we provide.
The private entrance, security features, and flexibility of the space allowed us to create an environment that works for our business while giving clients a welcoming experience from the moment they arrive.
How has being located at Watkins impacted your business?
Moving to Watkins has given us more space to grow while creating an even better experience for our clients. The studio feels safer and more comfortable thanks to the building's security features, and clients frequently comment on how easy the location is to find and access.
